Whom Do We Really Place Our Faith?

When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” So Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord .” And they rose up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.

Exodus 32:1‭-‬6 ESV

Clearly, this passage tells that this generation of Israelites did not have a personal relationship with God that’s why they easily slide back to the culture of the Egyptians -idol worship. Indeed, it was Moses whom they were following and placed their faith to and not God. When Moses was out of their sight for 40 days, they started to create their own god and forgot the God who brought them out of their slavery.

Therefore, it is important for believers to ensure that their faith is on God alone not with people or organizations. People change and make mistakes so if our belief in God is anchored on them, when they disappoint us then our walk with the Lord gets jeopardized.

So, I’m always reminding myself that the reason I love my Christian friends and the church I belong to is because of Jesus, not the other way around. My faith is on and depends only on Jesus. Afterall, Jesus is the Author and Perfector of our faith. If in case I don’t see my Christian friends much or in the future God will ask me to leave my current church to go somewhere, I should be okay because who I follow is Jesus and He will not let go. ❤❤❤

Soli Deo Gloria!

PS:

Happy to be back with my quiet time after a busy and stressful day at work. It seems so long since the last time I read and reflect on the Word. I am thankful to God that He planted this eagerness to medidate on His Word and the delight of sharing them consistently. God knows how consistently inconsistently I am. Being able to keep up this spiritual discipline is an answered prayer. Praise be to God!!! 😇😇😇
